Saturday, December 8, 2007 Today's practice..

Hey peeps! unfortunately for today's prac, 2 of our members were not here. Concert is coming ald, so yes, no excuses pls, unless you're reallllly sick or have smt realllllly impt goin on. So, serene, are you satisfied with the playing today?

To say the truth, Im not really satisfied ya, thats why i got THAT dumb face on. But remember what Lionel said, PLAY WITH CONFIDENCE. And when we have recruitment next year, we will teach them PROPER stuff like how to take good care of the reed, and how a metal ruler can be use plus the way a reed shld be properly put in. For eg, we should actually put the ligature in first before the reed is being put in. Then to also tell the sec1s to blow sound out, as in let them play reallllllly loud, so that as time pass, they will eventually know how to adjust their own sound and listen carefully to their tone and tune. So, bear this in mind ya. We did Early One Morning, La Paloma, John Williams, Invention and Magic Of ALW for sectionals today. Hope you all wont forget what Lionel said. Early One Morning 3rd movement, 2 bars before 75, alto please take note. La Paloma, dont forget the OPTION BAR RHYTHM! John Williams, bar28, alto and bari, the note you have tend to be quite 'zao sia' when you have a low note after a high note. Tenor, need to have stagger breathing. Invention, alto's high notes, try to hear each other and get in tune. Magic Of ALW, 3bars before 21, pls connect the notes well.

For Mr Lim's combine session today, TENORS, please listen down to the euphoniums. ALTOS, please listen down to the tenors. PLAY OUT! Like what Nr Lim wanted you all to do. And play exactly the same way you did in the foyer during sectionals. Open up the sound. For Night Train, at Bar29, please take note we have the melody with the horns. Remember to come out more. Baritone sax, your crotchets have to short and bouncy. And remember, the last note of the piece, watch Mr Lim, he will motion for us to decresendo [isit spelt correctly?]. For John Williams, triplets can sound more nicer, tongue harder at it and bari sax the coming down the notes at bar.. errr, i duno hahas, will tell you when i see the score, have to be short and (err, decresendo or cresendo ah? opps forget! =X) La Paloma, yes, you all know what I will say, the option bar, there's still room for improvement. Dont give up just yet, not sure go ask. Loch Lomond, you all have to learn to...

OPEN UP YOUR HEART! Put more feelings into what you're playing. And Mr Lim wrote on the board, BREATHE FOR MUSIC, NOT FOR LUNGS. So, put more feelings.. maybe the music sound better that way. HAHA, which music is good without feelings? LOLS.

Ok, gotta end here, I know i nag alot and this post is sooooooo wordy..
BUT...

IT'S ALL FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.
Let's all work hard towards Dil Se.
